The pioneer of the foundation, Sulaiman Bin Abdul Aziz Bin Saleh Al Rajhi, was born in 1929 A.D. He was raised in a poor family and in difficult living conditions.
Always passionate about work, his determination in earning a living was strong and he worked in several professions and became one of the most successful businessmen in the world.
He used his wealth and influence for the greater good. In the beginning, the charitable work was directed to helping the needy. Following consultations with experienced professionals and religious scholars, Sulaiman Al Rajhi decided to establish a private institution to systematically carry out his charitable activities. In 1983, A charitable committee was established.
Annually, the foundation supports approximately 1,200 charity projects in 13 regions, include more than 130 cities and towns across the Kingdom. Projects are selected based on the needs of the Saudi society.
True to his giving nature and to sustain his benevolent work, Sulaiman Al Rajhi decided to turn a large part of his fortune into an endowment. His contribution was deemed to be among the largest endowment in Islamic history.
Sulaiman Bin Abdul Aziz Al Rajhi Charitable Foundation is now recognized as one of the most important donor institutions in the Kingdom. It focuses its efforts in supporting registered, non-profit organizations designed to help the educational, health, social, and religious sectors.
